“RISE + DEFINE” is a talk story breakfast series [re]defining what it takes to make it in Hawai‘i. These events showcase kama‘aina creators and doers who will share personal stories and insights on how they’ve navigated their own courses to achieve success in Hawai‘i.
On Wednesday, July 11th, RISEHI presents “RISE + DEFINE,” our second talk story breakfast event defining what it takes to make it in Hawaii. For this event, we’re capping off our “BECOME a Nonprofit Founder” series by featuring four kama`aina NPO founders and directors in a panel discussion.
We’re pleased to have Duane DeSoto (Nā Kama Kai), Hi`ilei Kawelo (Paepae o He`eia), Kahi Pacarro (Sustainable Coastlines) and Donavon Kealoha (Purple Mai`a) as part of the panel discussion.
The panelists will share their stories of what inspired them to start a nonprofit, the challenges they faced, and the lessons they’ve learned along the way. Additional topics will cover funding, finding volunteers, and staying true to their core values.
